On December 21st 2007, Jay, Susan, Andrew and Jason Pauxtis went to The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to present a check to Dr. Peter Phillips, Director of Neuro-Oncology. It was an honor to be able to do this as a family. The following is what Jay said as he presented the check.
“It was just about one year ago when Susan and I asked a number of our friends to come to our home to talk about an idea that we had. Our idea was to do something in memory, in honor of Timmy; and something that would benefit all children battling brain cancer. Our idea was to raise money to help the neuro-oncology research efforts performed at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Our friends have good hearts, offered plenty of good ideas, and offered their help in what we wanted to do. When I thought about how to go about raising money for CHOP, I wanted to make sure it was something that Timmy would want to do – he enjoyed having fun. Timmy enjoyed riding his bike. He enjoyed playing on the beach. So, from this came “Timmy’s Tour de Shore”. On October 7th, 2007, 450 enthusiastic bike riders, along with several hundred spectators, and volunteers, came to the Tour de Shore, Our supporters raised $70,000."
"On behalf of The Timothy Pauxtis Foundation, our supporters, and my family, I am happy to present this check for $70,000 to help you and your research department, its science, and its search for better treatments for kids with brain cancer.”
