Spreading Awareness, Building
A Sense Of Community February 2007
Communities come in all forms, they all provide a sense of belonging, of being part of something larger then oneself. They can help define purpose and meaning. Communities rise to offer support. A community will rally behind a goal or a common cause.
We know, as our Timmy battled his brain tumor, so many people in many communities offered much support. During 2007 the Timothy Pauxtis Foundation will reach out to various communities enlisting their support for Pediatric Brain Tumor Research.
Some ideas being considered are:
In our Community: use the “National Childhood Cancer Month” (September) as an opportunity to raise awareness about pediatric cancer, brain tumors and the general need for research support to find new treatments.
In Our Schools: engage Parent Faculty groups, High School community service clubs, Scouting Groups and others to participate in the Foundation’s fund raising efforts by preparing posters, and adding Timmy’s “Tour de Shore” to their event calendars so that they can participate
If you have some ideas, or want to get involved, please send us a note with your thoughts.
Please check back from time to time to see how our Community Awareness theme is developing……
Just a few dollars could help support medical researchers in their quest to find more effective treatments for pediatric brain tumors.
